Camille Le FilSince a couple of years there is a ‘new wave’ in French chansons. One of the central figures is composer/singer Benjamin Biolay. Other singers are Keren Ann and Coralie Clément (Biolay’s sister). This new generation could be considered Serge Gainsbourg’s illegitimate children. But Camille is different from this new überhip French connection. She is more ‘dreamy’, more creative. Camille mostly uses her own voice as an instrument, and combines both humorous and tragic lyrics with very captivating rhytms. Camille is a must have in any iPod.

Nothing negative about this new album? Well unfortunately yes. Although it contains 15 tracks, its total length is only 36 minutes, way too short for this gem. Watch the clip of Ta Douleur.

Buy directly on the iTunes Music Store, or on Amazon USA (if you live in the USA).
